PURPOSE: A display device and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent the loss or damage of bar codes and simply grasp bar code information by displaying bar code information by using OSD. CONSTITUTION: A display device(1) including a display part displaying video signals includes a memory having stored predetermined bar code information, a bar code display selecting key(13) to select display of the bar code information stored at the memory, an OSD generating part displaying OSD to control display state of the display part, and a control part displaying the bar code information stored at the memory to the display part through the OSD generating part when the bar code information display is selected through the bar code display selecting key.
