PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scale preventing method for a cooling water system capable of effectively preventing the generation of the scale resulted from calcium, magnesium, or the like, in an open circulating cooling water system. SOLUTION: In the scale preventing method for the cooling water system, a scale component modifying type scale preventing means and the addition of a seed crystal are combinedly used.
