PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant and a deodorizing method superior in safety and a deodorizing effect, and capable of simultaneously performing deodorization and antibacterial treatment in a facility used by many and unspecified persons, for example, a protective home for the aged and a hospital by combining an easily available compound having high safety. SOLUTION: This deodorant includes one kind or two or more kinds alkali metal sulfates, one kind or two or more kinds of alkali metal halides, and water, and includes a water soluble silver compound when necessary.
