PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric water heater capable of solving problems that conventional electric water heaters discolor walls and furniture, and causes the growth of mold due to steam generated during water boiling. SOLUTION: A steam absorbing means, which comprises a moisture absorbing honeycomb body 6 and a water nonabsorbing honeycomb body 7, is provided on a lid 4 covering an upper part of a water storing vessel 2. Thereby, the electric water heater capable of preventing steam from leaking outside is obtained.
