THERMALLY STABILIZED BY THE ADDITION OF RARE EARTHS The present invention relates to a procedure for the preparation of a support based on a transition metal oxide, thermally stabilized by the addition of rare earths, using a sol-gel method for the synthesis of the same, which comprises: support synthesis, rare earths addition to improve its thermal stability, drying, calcining at oxidant atmosphere and high temperature hydro-deactivation treatments. The support is then impregnated with Group VIB and VIII metals of the Periodic Table of the Elements by means of conventional techniques, drying and high temperature calcining and subsequently evaluated in catalytic activity tests at micro-reaction level and pilot plant level in hydrodesulfurization reactions.
