In a ball-and-socket joint the socket housing .1 and the linkage spigot 2 are made of epoxy resin mixed with hardening agents, to which fillers such as quartz, ground slate, chalk, sand or fibre glass have been added. The housing 1 may be integral with the spigot 2, or separate, as shown, and secured in a bearing eye in the spigot by a collar 14 of the housing and a Z-shaped ring 9 engaged in a groove 10 in the housing. An insert 15 of a low friction material may be provided. Wear-reducing graphite may be admixed with the epoxy resin of the housing 1. The joint includes a pre-stressed resilient ring 7.
