PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent which adsorbs hydrophobic materials, particularly hormone-like active substances, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds with high efficiency and easily desorbs these. SOLUTION: The hydrophobic material adsorbent comprises a crosslinked polymer obtained by copolymerizing a hydrophobic crosslinkable monomer (e.g. triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, tetramethylolmethane triacrylate or divinylbenzene) and a nitrogen-free hydrophilic group-containing monomer (e.g. nonaethylene glycol dimethacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate or glycidyl methacrylate).
