PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which prevents a fuse for a battery from being deteriorated due to a layer short circuit in a motor. SOLUTION: Power is supplied to the motor 5 from a battery pack 6. The battery pack 6 is fitted with the fuse 32 for the battery, which has a fusing current larger than an electric current in a case of the layer short circuit in the motor 5. A fuse 28 for wiring is mounted on a lead wire 27 which establishes a connection between the battery pack 6 and the motor 5. The fuse 28, which has the fusing current smaller than that of the fuse 32, is blown by the layer short circuit in the motor 5. An electric current, which passes to the fuse 32 in the case of the layer short circuit in the motor 5, is made smaller than the fusing current of the fuse 32. The fuse 32 is hard to deteriorate. The electric current, which passes to the fuse 32 in a case of a short circuit in the battery pack 6, is made larger than the fusing current of the fuse 32. The fuse 32 is blown with ease.
