PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod with which an accurate casting can be compatible with excellent fighting. SOLUTION: The structure of a grip main body 13 of the fishing rod 10 is improved. The grip main body 13 is equipped with a grip auxiliary member 15 to be changed from a storage position to a development position. The grip auxiliary member 15 is constituted of a pair of symmetrically arranged flat plates 27 and 28. The development of the flat plates 27 and 28 is carried out by a position change mechanism 23 (T-shaped type hinge 31). The fishing rod is equipped with a retention member 24 for holding the grip auxiliary member 15 in a storage position.
