PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method for contaminated water which is applicable even for a narrow cite area, can correspond to the variation in load and is excellent in the efficiency of removal of a contaminant. SOLUTION: The cleaning method for contaminated water cleans the contaminated water which contains at least a volatile organic compound as the contaminant. Further, the cleaning method for contaminated water comprises an aeration process (i) of bringing the contaminated water into contact with aeration gas, performing aeration treatment and obtaining the aerated water of contaminant concn. of 1-20 ppm, an adsorption process (ii) of bringing the aerated gas which is obtained in the aeration process into contact with an adsorbent and performing the adsorption treatment and a process (iii) of irradiating the aerated water which is obtained in the aeration process with ultraviolet rays under the presence of ozone gas.
