PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner provided with an inlet body which is light in weight, high in dust collecting force, and large in longitudinal dimension corresponding to a cleaning length. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner is comprised of a rotary cleaning body 104 and an electric motor 105 for driving the rotary cleaning body, which are arranged in the inlet body. The electric vacuum cleaner also includes an intake port 111 placed on one side of the rotary cleaning body closer to an edge of the electric vacuum cleaner, in a manner opening perpendicularly to the surface to be cleaned, and an intake nozzle 501 arranged in an inlet body case at a location being opposed to the electric motor. Cleaning operation is implemented by colliding air with a brush of the rotary cleaning body.
