The timber trunk (3) splitting device (1) comprises at least one blade (4) and at least one gripping unit (2) with a directly or indirectly fitted rail (5). The blade is movably fitted in opposing directions (15,16) in the rail. During splitting, the gripping unit secures around the timber trunk, preventing movement in the two directions. For splitting, the blade, under the effect of force, moves in the rail in the two directions, so that the whole or parts (8) of the timber trunk is/are split. |
