<p>A composition for coating hectographic papers &c., comprises 5 to 30 parts of polyethylene of molecular weight 1500 to 5000, 5 to 20 parts of colouring matter, 5 to 35 parts of non-drying oils, and 40 to 100 parts of aliphatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons. In the example, polyethylene of molecular weight 2000, lampblack, mineral oil and trichloroethylene are used.ALSO:A hectographic material or a carbon or copy material comprises a support such as a paper sheet, a cellulose film or any other film of a suitable resin, and a single ink layer containing colouring matter, a non-drying oil and a binder of polyethylene said single layer having overlying and underlying zones enriched with said binder, and an intermediate zone enriched in said colouring matter. In the example a solution of polyethylene of molecular weight 2,000, lampblack and mineral oil in trichloroethylene is coated onto paper and the solvent allowed to evaporate off.</p> |
