SITE INVESTIGATION TECHNIQUE

PURPOSE: A site investigation technique is provided to improve reliability, to obtain data for continuous site conditions easily and to grasp the strength of the site. CONSTITUTION: The site investigation technique comprises the steps of: setting a lateral line of the site for investigation; occurring surface waves at a spot on the lateral line of the site; obtaining data for surface waves transferred through the site on the lateral line; calculating energy against each frequency and phase velocity of the surface waves from the data for surface waves and obtaining a dispersion curve for surface waves which picks out phase velocity having the maximum energy at the appointed frequency; and calculating back the dispersion curve for surface waves to obtain a velocity profile for shear waves of the site.
