摘要 PURPOSE: A method of controlling a data rate using mode and data rate control length is provided to compare strength of a pilot signal received from an access terminal and a BER(Bit Error Rate) capacity of a received signal with a threshold value, and to variably control a DRC(Data Rate Control) channel using mode and DRC length, thereby obtaining control bits to the maximum. CONSTITUTION: An access network transmits an initial using mode to an access terminal(S100). The access network sets initial DRC length, and transmits the initial DRC length to the access terminal(S200). The access network inputs strength of a reverse pilot receiving signal and strength of a receiving signal of a DRC channel from the access terminal, and measures a corresponding BER value(S300). The access network compares the measured BER value with a threshold value, and determines corresponding control bits(S400). The access network transmits the control bits to the access terminal(S500). The access terminal inputs the control bits, and changes into a using mode and DRC length corresponding to the control bits(S600). The access network decides whether an acknowledgement signal is inputted from the access terminal(S700). If so, the access network completes data transmissions(S800).
