PURPOSE: Structure of a cowl cross member of a vehicle is provided to optimize the ratio of rigidity to weight by reducing the weight of a cowl cross member having an excessive rigidity. CONSTITUTION: A left cowl cross member(20a) to which a strong vibration is transmitted has a diameter same as that of a general left cowl cross member. A support bracket(21) connected with the bottom face of a vehicle body is extended from the left member to support the weight of a cowl cross member(20) and disperse a portion of the vibration transmitted from an engine to the bottom face of the vehicle body. The diameter of a right cowl cross member(20b) to which a weak vibration is transmitted is reduced. Many bent portions(23) are formed in the right member to effectively absorb the deformation energy transmitted to the cowl cross member.
