PURPOSE: A method for processing an originating call of a telephone and delivering a digit code is provided to convert a character included in a telephone number selected by retrieving a phonebook into a telephone number assigned with an input key assigned with the character, and to transmit the call by the telephone number, thereby originating the call even when the character is included in the selected telephone number. CONSTITUTION: A phonebook is performed(200). When a telephone number is selected by a user(202), an MPU confirms whether a character is included in the selected telephone number(204). If so, the MPU converts the character into a telephone number assigned with an input key assigned with the character(206), and displays the converted telephone number through a display device as an originating telephone number(208). If the character is not included in the selected telephone number, the MPU displays the selected telephone number as the originating telephone number(208). When an originating key is inputted(210), the MPU originates a call by the displayed telephone number(212), and performs a call connection(214).
