PURPOSE: Provided are a cermet containing titanium carbonitride with high hardness which has improved sintering and alloy properties and a method for producing the same. CONSTITUTION: The cermet is produced by ball milling 50 to 100wt% of titanium carbonitride(Ti(CN)) with 50 wt% or less of tungsten carbide(WC) in a metallic port of SUS 316(STS 316) with stone particles having a particle size of 5 mm in acetone for 60 hours or more, followed by drying and sintering the product in a furnace in vacuum by heating to 1500 deg.C with a temperature increase of 10 deg.C/min. The produced cermet comprises 50 to 100 wt% of titanium carbonitride and 50 wt% or less of tungsten and 2 wt% of unavoidable metals including one or more selected from Fe, Ni, Cr and Mo.
