PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and a control device for a heating device where shortening of the service life of the heating roller can be prevented by quickly recovering from an excessively heated state and without generating any wrinkles on paper or any image deterioration and the heating device using the control device. SOLUTION: In the device, when a paper size signal is the small size, a pair of rolls that are a heating roller and a press roller are driven to be rotated (rotation mode) for a specified time with no paper passed after the final piece of paper is passed through the heating device in a continuous passage of the paper size.
