PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aα,α',α"-tris (hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,5- triisopropylbenzene useful as a functional material imparting functions such as thermal stability to a synthetic resin, an antioxidant, a photosensitive resist or the like, and a raw material for manufacturing various polyphenols by reacting with a phenol. SOLUTION: Theα,α',α"-tris (hydroxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene is expressed by the general formula (I) (wherein, m is 0, 1 or 2; when m is O, R is hydroxyl, and n is 2; when m is 1, R is a 1-3C alkyl or hydroxyl, and n is 0, 1 or 2; and when m is 2, R is a 1-3C alkyl or hydroxyl, and n is 0 or 1).
