PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virtual retrieval system for information and a virtual retrieval apparatus therefor capable of acquiring information on objects to be retrieved through eyes and ears and performing operations easily to retrieve or select the objects appropriate to a purpose of use. SOLUTION: In the system, information on moving images of a storage medium B mounted on a body 2 of an information retrieval apparatus 1 is retrieved by operating an input device 4 of the apparatus 1. Information on moving images in a virtual use state of a lighting appliance A obtained when selecting, for example, a direct retrieval C, an image retrieval D, a wisdom of lighting E and a function of lighting F and the like are displayed on a display device 4. Information on the appliance A is acquired from eyes and ears through virtual sensation by notifying information concerning the information on moving images by voice through a loud speaker 6, selecting operations and the like to retrieve the appliance A appropriate to a usage position and the purpose of the use, and a usage position appropriate to the appliance A are performed.
