PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type optical element less in deterioration of the reflection characteristics even under a high temperature and high humidity environment. SOLUTION: In the reflection type optical element 1 obtained by forming at least a metal reflecting film on a transparent resin substrate, the metal film is not formed partly or wholly on the surface of the substrate which does not contribute to at least reflecting an image.
