PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadband wave division multiplexer/demultiplexer having an input from different wavelength bands. SOLUTION: An example of embodiment of the device is the broad band wave division multiplexer having two input waveguides 102 and 103 for two input signals from different wavelength bands, an MMI waveguide 104 which generates an output WDM(wave division multiplexing) signal from two input signals, and a WDM output waveguide 105 which combines the output WDM signal. As an option, at least a separate output waveguide 106 is used for trapping all powers which are not coupled for generating the output WDM signal or a part of powers. |
