PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal preserving furnace that is constituted to prevent the occurrence of oxides on the surface of a molten metal preserved in the main body of the furnace and to prevent the adhesion of oxides to the external surface of an immersion heating pipe and, in addition, to be improved in thermal efficiency, fuel cost, and productivity and to make molten metal preserving work to be carried out efficiently. SOLUTION: This dipping type molten metal preserving furnace 10 is constituted to preserve the molten metal M in the main body 11 of the furnace by heating the metal M by dipping the immersion heating pipe 30 into the metal M from a lid section 20. In the furnace 10, a drooping section 21 made of a refractory is formed from the lid section 20 to cover the outer periphery of the immersion heating pipe 30 at the position T where the pipe 30 comes into contact with the surface of the molten metal M.
