PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetization pattern forming device which is capable of forming magnetization patterns on a magnetic recording medium without decentering and without the occurrence of bending in the magnetic recording medium, and a magnetization pattern forming method using this apparatus. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium 1 is carried in above a turntable 10. A shaft holding member 66 is then resin by a lifting device and the magnetic recording medium 1 lands atop the turntable 10. When an air cylinder 58 is caused to perform the retreat operation of a rod 58a, a retreat member 34 moves downward and a tapered surface 34t thrusts the tapered surface 14t of a fixing piece 14 and the upper part of the fixing piece 14 expands. As a result, the fixing piece 14 is pressed to a central hole 1a and the magnetic recording medium 1 is fixed. A magnetic field is generated while the turntable 10 is rotated and the region to be irradiated with energy rays is heated by irradiating the region with the energy rays, such as a layer beam, to form the magnetization pattern on the magnetic recording medium 1.
