<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction hardening method capable of performing the hardening of an outer circumferential surface of a cam part of a cam shaft (the hardening of a contour of the cam part), and uniformly hardening an outer circumferential surface of a journal part by using an induction heating coil of the same circular section. SOLUTION: By using the induction heating coil 5 having circular section, the axisβof the induction heating coil 5 is offset to the axisαof the cam shaft 1, and the space between each part of the outer circumferential surface 3a of the cam part 3 and an inner circumferential surface 5a of the induction heating coil 5 of circular section is kept at a required distance. In this condition, the outer circumferential surface 3a of the cam part 3 is induction-heated in a stationary condition without rotating the cam shaft 1, quenched.</p> |
