The shield is made from a number of panels (1, 2) of materials resistant to penetration by projectiles such as bullets, joined together by hinges (5, 6) that allow it to be folded for transport and deployed to offer a large protective surface. The panels are at least four in number and more or less of the same size, with the hinges on opposite edges so that they deploy in one direction, and one panel is detachable for separate use e.g. in a motor vehicle. The shield also has a carrying handle (8), a fastener (21) to hold it in the folded position, and other fasteners (12 - 19) to hold it in a semi-deployed configuration. |
