PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new UV absorbent precursor that has a low crystallinity, a composition containing the precursor that has an excellent storing stability and does not cause image defects due to crystallization of the precursor even at a high ambient temperature, and a method for enabling formation of images consistently without defects using the composition. SOLUTION: This method for forming images comprises steps of applying a composition containing a UV absorbent precursor represented by the general formula (1) on to a substrate; exposing the composition to light; eliminating unnecessary composition by a developing procedure to form image pixels on the substrate; and subjecting the pixels to heat treatment. In the formula (1), R<1> -R<3> are each a protective group that can be eliminated by heating; R<4> -R<6> are each an alkyl group, or a protective group that can be eliminated by heating; R<7> -R<9> are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; and a case is excluded where all the above-described protective groups are the same. |
