PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent temperature elevation of a display device and to accurately control temperature. SOLUTION: In inspecting a liquid crystal panel 10, spraying nozzles 41, 42 to spurt out low temperature air into space formed with the liquid crystal panel 10 and two sheets of sapphire glass 31, 32 are arranged together with the two sheets of the sapphire glass 31, 32 respectively placed opposite to the upper and lower surfaces of the liquid crystal panel 10. When the liquid crystal panel 10 is set on fulcrums 21, 22 and the inspection is started, light from a high-luminance light source is made incident on the liquid crystal panel 10 and simultaneously a temperature controller 50 starts to operate. Quantity and a rate of flow of the low temperature air spurting out from the spraying nozzles 41, 42 are controlled so as to prevent the temperature elevation of the liquid crystal panel 10 and to keep the liquid crystal panel 10 at a specified temperature.
