1,085,159. Toothed belts. UNI ROYAL Inc. Nov. 2, 1965 [Jan. 11, 1965], No. 46435/65. Heading F2Q. A toothed belt comprising an endless band 13 of wire or pre-stretched cords covered with plastics or synthetic or natural rubber 16-14 has a wear-resistant layer of nylon flock 11 bonded over the teeth 14 and the spaces therebetween. The belt is formed by loosely winding the cords (40) constituting the band 13 over a layer of electrostatically sprayed flock on a longitudinally grooved drum (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), and then winding uncured plastics or rubber over the cords (40). The whole assembly is then vulcanized and the rubber compressed between the cords (40) on to the flock in a steam vulcanizer, Fig. 3 (not shown). A belt is then cut to any required width from the drum (17). A preferred mix for the rubber, and its hardness are specified.
|
