PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floodlight source, lighting device for the same, and a floodlight device and a projector with small size. SOLUTION: A light source 2 comprises a high pressure discharge lamp 4 having a ruggedness 16 formed at least at one side of the outside surface and a pair of sealing parts 14, 15 of which, the cross section in the direction rectangular to a tube axis is almost circular, and a reflection body 5 having a cylinder-shaped neck part 18 integrally formed to the bottom part of a reflection body 17 so as to protrude outside, directly fixing the one side of the sealing part 14 to the outside surface of which, the ruggedness 16 is formed by an adhesive member 19.
