摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maximize both of the serviceable life and the capacity of a secondary battery. SOLUTION: A least two types of operation modes are set, first and second operation modes of charging the secondary battery until reaching mutually different prescribed charging end voltages, when charging the secondary battery. The two types of operation modes are selectable by a user, automatically changed over by a timer device, changed over according to the battery temperature, changed over according to the soundness of the battery, or changed over according to the internal pressure. An operation mode of high charging end voltage increases the battery capacitance, while an operation mode of low charging end voltage reduces the battery capacitance, with an advantage of elongating the battery serviceable life.
