PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system capable of displaying any past images. SOLUTION: A monitoring camera device 1 divides an image signal imaged with a camera between first image component data and second image component data to perform compression and encoding with an image information compressing part 5, stores the compressed and encoded second image component data in a second image component data storing part 6 and also transmits the compressed and encoded first image component data to a monitor 2 through a communication line 3; and the monitor 2 stores the compressed and encoded first image component data that are transmitted in a first image data storing part 13, decompresses the first image component data, converts the first image component data into an image signal with an image information decompressing part 14, displays the image signal on a display means 15, reads the compressed and encoded first image component data stored in the first image data storing part, in response to an instruction input, decompresses the first image component data for converting the first image component data into an image signal with the image information decompressing part and displays the image signal on the displaying means.
