<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low-cost high-voltage pulse generating circuit capable of generating a high-voltage pulse of extremely narrow width without using complex and expensive means including a magnetic compressing circuit. SOLUTION: The positive output terminal of a low-voltage DC power supply is connected to the negative output terminal via a series circuit made up of a first switch of a low withstand voltage, an inductor for accumulating magnetic energy, and a second switch of a high withstand voltage. A branch winding including a free-wheeling diode is connected between the connection point of the first switch with the inductor and the negative output terminal of the DC power supply. After the magnetic energy is accumulated with the first and second switches turned on, the first and second switches are turned off. Then, the energy accumulated in the inductor is commutated to a capacitive load connected to both ends of the second switch and, by charging it rapidly, steep and narrow-width high-voltage pulses can be generated.</p> |
