PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe pile or the like embedded in the ground, which can positively enhance the pull-out resistance and bearing force thereof, and to provide a method for forming the pile. SOLUTION: According to the method for forming the diameter-widened pile, the steel pipe pile P is embedded in the ground by using both a pile press-in/pull-out machine or the like, and an auger device 10, and thereafter by activating a diameter-widening section 20 arranged at the tip of the auger device 10 or at the tip of a casing, a lower end Pa of the steel pipe pile P is pressed outward, to thereby widen the diameter of the pile. Further, after expansion of the lower end of the steel pipe pile P, a foot protecting material such as mortar or concrete is injected in the vicinity of the tip of the steel pipe pile P, as needed, to thereby enhance the pull-out resistance and bearing force of the steel pipe pile P.
