PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright and inexpensive organic luminescent element having small power consumption, and a light emitting device using the organic luminescent element. SOLUTION: In this organic luminescent element having an anode, a cathode, and an organic compound layer provided between the anode and the cathode, the organic compound layer contains an organic compound expressed by the following general formula (1). (M1 and M2 are bivalent metal ions or bivalent oxo metal ions; X is a benzene ring or a condensed ring comprising the benzene ring, and may have a substituent; R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group; R2 -R11 may be same or different each other, and are hydrogen or alkyl groups).
