PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for setting laser power by which a load related to the adjustment of the laser power is reduced. SOLUTION: When the laser power setting process is started, an optical pickup accesses a management area on a magneto optical disk and reproduces management data (Step S1). An MPU detects an intrinsic cord for identifying an optical disk drive from the management data, and judges whether it coincides with the intrinsic cord of the optical disk drive (Step S3). When it coincides, a laser power included in the management data is set (Steps S4 and S7). When it does not coincide, a simple power determination processing is carried out to determine and set the laser power (Steps S5, S7). When a specific cord is not present in the management data (Step S2), most suitable power determination processing is carried out to determine and set the laser power (Steps S6 and S7). |
