PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified effective decoding method for decoding algebraic block codes, used for channel coding for digital data transmission. SOLUTION: The method is executed, based on a syndrome polynomial R<(1)> (X), together with a receiving device and a computer program, such that received words r are sampled at specified interpolation pointsα<0> -α<n-1> to obtain symbols r<0> -r<n-1> , a discrete Fourier transformation is applied to the symbols r<0> -r<n-1> , to obtain coefficients Ri for forming the polynomial R<(1)> (X) and the error position retrieval is executed abut introduction of a defined elimination, based on the polynomial R<(1)> (X).
