The unit has a reciprocating yarn distributor moving parallel to the surface of the support reel (7) with rapid deceleration and acceleration at reversing points, comprising a yarn guide (6) and a cursor (5) associated with the magnetic plate (1) of a linear motor fed with a two- or three-phase current. The stator of the motor consists of a number of basic modules (2a, 2b), each with a series of C-shaped magnetic circuits (4), each with a gap between its ends for the magnetic plate, which has alternating North and South poles and forms the mobile element moving the cursor.
