PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel fuel composition which can be applied to conventional combustion engines of vehicles and causes little or no pollution. SOLUTION: The fuel composition contains 43-47 wt.% gasoline and 53-57 wt.% aliphatic ether/alcohol component containing 18-22 pts.wt methyl tertiary butyl ether, 15-19 pts.wt. ethanol, 8-12 pts.wt. isobutyl alcohol, and 6-10 pts.wt. isopropyl alcohol. This composition can be applied to the gasoline engine and forms an exhaust gas markedly reduced in a hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide level.
