PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounting type optical module package which is made low-cost by decreasing the number of component parts of the optical module package and of which the airtightness is easily secured. SOLUTION: The optical module package is provided with an optical bench 1, such optical parts as an LD(laser diode) 3 and a monitor PD(photodiode) 4 which are mounted on the optical bench 1, a substrate 8 on which the optical bench 1 is mounted, an optical fiber 2b which is extended on the optical bench 1, a ring-shaped resin molded part 2 which is so arranged on the substrate 8 to enclose the optical bench 1, forms a side wall of a package and has an optical connector part 2a, and a cap 9 which closes the opening of the ring- shaped resin molded part 2.
