PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycarbonate polyol having a number average molecular weight of 500-4,000 g/mol by reacting a diaryl carbonate with a polyol. SOLUTION: The method is carried out by reacting the starting materials under a specified temperature and a pressure, followed by distilling off a total theoretical amount of aryl alcohol.
