PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyboard instrument which is capable of reflecting not only the playing intensity but key touch intensity in musical piece data in the sound volume of the musical tones outputted from the keyboard instru ment and a method for controlling the same. SOLUTION: The keyboard instrument 1 is provided with a key touch detecting section 110. The key touch detecting section 110 detects a key touch speed and supplies the result of the detection to a CPU 101. When key touch intensity is formed from this key touch speed, the CPU 101 reads the velocity (playing intensity) of the event data corresponding to the key touch intensity out of a RAM 103 and determines the sound production intensity indicating the sound volume level of the musical tones to be produced from the read out playing intensity and key touch intensity. The CPU 101 outputs the determined sound production intensity and the corresponding playing event to a sound source 106. The sound source 106 performs the formation of sound source signals, etc., according to the playing event and sound production intensity supplied by the CPU 101. |
