PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiemetic composition for spray in the nasal cavity, capable of being easily administered and capable of providing rapid effects. SOLUTION: This antiemetic composition for the spray in the nasal cavity contains 2-8 pts.wt. ondansetron hydrochloride based on 100 pts.wt. base for the administration to the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. The base consists of 70-85 wt.% water, 5-15 wt.% polyethylene glycol, 0.005-0.02 wt.% benzalkonium chloride, and 7-20 wt.% one kind of a solubilization promoter selected from the sodium salt of sulfobutyl ether-β-cyclodextrin, dimethyl-β- cyclodextrin, and 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin regulated so that the total may be 100 wt.%. The composition enables the nasal cavity administration of the antiemetic agent, and when the composition is administered in the nasal cavity, the rapid antiemetic effect is exhibited within 30 min after the administration. The bioavailability of the ondansetron hydrochloride which is an active ingredient is improved, and a desirable effect is obtained even by the administration of a comparatively small amount thereof.
