PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a sliding wear between a cam used for a power transmission base controlling the opening/closing for a fuel valve of an engine and the follower or tappet. SOLUTION: In a metallic cam used for a transmission base for transmitting a driving power by the rotary motion of the cam to a reciprocating motion member, a diamond-like carbon membrane, an intermediate layer composed of (a) a silicide or silicious carbide chiefly made of at least one kind selected from the fifth A group metal (V, Nb, Ta), the six A group metal (Cr, Mo, W), Ti, and Zr, (b) a metallic film chiefly made of at least one kind selected from the fifth A group metal (V, Nb, Ta), and of a Si film formed thereon, or a metallic film chiefly made of Si, or (c) at least a kind of metallic film selected from the fifth A group metal (V, Nb, Ta), the six A group metal (Cr, Mo, W), Ti, or Zr, and silicon carbide film formed thereon, and the diamond-like carbon membrane are formed in this order.
