PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a chucking defect caused by the core deviation of a single reel 2, with which a magnetic tape is wound around the outer periphery of a reel hub 21, when setting a magnetic tape cartridge into a drive device so as to be placed longitudinally, and the reel 2 is housed in a cartridge case 3 to be rotated, movably in the direction of the axial line between a first position inhibiting the rotation and a second position allowing the rotation. SOLUTION: Ribs 73 and 74 are provided on the inner wall surface of the cartridge case 3 so that a clearance c1 in the direction of a reel radius between the outer peripheral edge of the reel 2 and the inner wall surface of the cartridge case 3 while locating the reel 2 at the first position can become smaller than a clearance in the direction of the reel radius between the outer peripheral edge of the reel 2 and the inner wall surface of the cartridge case 3 when the reel is in the second position.
