PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon dioxide hardened compact which is homogenized in carbonation through its inner part, excellent in bending strength, never recog nized in generation of a crack and fissure, and excellent in humidifying and dehumidifying property. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a carbon dioxide hardened compact of granulate containing calcium silicate as a main raw material, comprises: a process (A) measuring at least a moisture content of the main raw material, and deciding amount of feeding water based on the measurement of moisture content; a process (B) mixing and kneading the main raw material and subsidiary raw material, and adding water thereto, the amount of which is determined in the process (A), so as to adjust the moisture content of mixed raw material; a process (C) feeding the mixed raw material obtained in the process (B) into a form, and press forming it into a compact; a process (D) taking out the compact, making it carbonating reaction while being in contact with carbon dioxide gas or carbon dioxide containing gas in an autoclave for curing so as to harden the compact.
