DRUGS FOR INTESTINAL DISEASES

Drugs for preventing, ameliorating and/or treating intestinal diseases which contain as the active ingredient plant−origin &bgr;(1→3) glucan having a molecular weight of 5000 to 20000. These drugs are widely usable for various intestinal diseases, in particular, inflammatory intestinal diseases. They show little side effect and are efficacious in oral administration. They can be conveniently administered to many patients and are usable in the form of health foods too. Moreover, a method of preventing, ameliorating and/or treating intestinal diseases and use of the specific glucan as described above as the active ingredient in these drugs are provided.
