METHOD FOR MEASURING POSITIONS OF GPS TERMINAL AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A method for measuring positions of a GPS(Global Positioning System) terminal and a wireless communication terminal are provided to reduce a time for obtaining a measuring value and increase receiving sensitivity of a GPS signal by reducing a code search range. CONSTITUTION: A communication link is set up between a base station(2) and a modem of a terminal(100). A position measuring command is transmitted to the terminal(102). The terminal receives a GPS signal and stores an IF sampling signal into a snap shot memory(104). The base station(2) prepares auxiliary information for measuring a position of the terminal(106). The base station(2) transmits the auxiliary information to the modem of the terminal and a microprocessor of a GPS receiver by using a serial communication method(108). The GPS receiver processes IF sampling signals to calculate pseudo distances of satellites(110). The microprocessor calculates the position of the terminal and transmits the calculated result to the base station(112,114).
