A vehicle rear view mirror assembly (10) comprising a reflective element (20) having a front reflective side (21) and a rear side (22), a foam backing element (30) having a first region (36) adjacent the rear side (22) of the reflective element (20) and a second region (38) remote from the first region (36), the foam anchoring and supporting the reflective element (20), wherein the front reflective side (21) of the reflective element (20) is a mirror.
